RUSSIA & ESTONIA
Surrounded by high art and exquisite architecture, these cities have been the backdrop to some of the most important events in Russian history. In June 2017, join the Mentor Series and Nikon professional photographers David Tejada and Mark Albrhasky to experience the rich history and cultural traditions of Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Tallinn (Estonia).
One of the most beautiful cities in the world, Saint Petersburg was constructed by Czar Peter the Great as Russia’s “window on Europe.” Situated on the Neva River, its historic embankments, bridges and canals reflect these European influences. We will photograph the Winter Palace and world-renowned Hermitage Museum, the grand avenue of Nevsky Prospekt, the gilded domes of Nikolsky Cathedral, and the gorgeous tiled roof of the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Our workshop with coincide with the “white nights,” when daylight extends to nearly nineteen hours, providing lovely natural light for our photo-intensive tour.
Moscow is a magnificent city very different from Saint Petersburg. While Saint Petersburg is the cultural center, Moscow is the governmental and religious center, and the country’s capital. The Kremlin and the Red Square hold tremendous historical and political significance. We will view the great walled fortress of the Kremlin, experience the cobbled main square, and work with our mentors to capture the exquisite Saint Basil’s Basilica. We will also tour the grand, spired towers of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, the Russian White House, and the historic Bolshoi Theatre.
The Moscow subway system is one of the most efficient and beautiful transit systems in the world. We will photograph the gorgeous mosaics, crystal chandeliers, stained glass and bronze statues that adorn the various stations across the city.
We have added a stop in the medieval city of Tallinn, Estonia, where we will experience the remarkable medieval fortifications, walls and towers dating back to 1229.
